2009 Highlights

The Learning and Technology World Forum 2009 successfully attracted over 750 leaders from 70 countries, including more than 50 ministers of education and skills.  Over three quarters of the world’s population were represented.

The main theme for 2009 was Next Generation Learning, covering:

  • Leadership for the 21st century
  • Skills for the 21st century
  • An education workforce for the 21st century

Participants explored the key forum themes and exchanged knowledge, ideas and experiences.

Such sharing of experiences together with presentations by world leading specialists (including Andreas Schleicher from OECD, Sir Tim Berners-lee, Director of the World Wide Web Consortium and Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba, Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General),  has greatly helped to build a global picture of the range of approaches to learning and technology.

The programme included:

  • Formal presentations.
  • Formal and informal opportunities for dialogue and debate.
  • Opportunities to learn from educational visits across London, including  schools, colleges, museums and art galleries.

A range of keynote presentations and further information about the 2009 programme are included within the video highlights / key highlights sections.
